Battery 'timer', remainder indicator and much more
The remaining battery capacity depends on the consumed ampere hours, the discharge current, the temperature and the age of the battery. Complex software algorithms are needed to account for all these variables.
Apart from the basic display options such as voltage, current and ampere hours consumed, the BMV-700 series also show the state of charge, the remaining battery life and the power consumption in watts. The BMV-702 has an additional input that can be programmed to measure the voltage (a second battery), temperature or midpoint voltage (see below).
All electrical connections are made with the PCB connector at the current shunt. The shunt is connected to the guard via a standard RJ12 telephone cable. Included in delivery: RJ 12 cable (10 m) and battery cable with fuse (2m); There are no other components needed.
In addition, a separate front bezel for a square or round display; a safety ring for back mounting and screws for front mounting included.
A quick-install menu and a detailed scroll-down setup menu assist the user in making the various adjustments. Please refer to the manual for more details.
New: monitoring the midpoint voltage (only BMV-702)
This feature, which is widely used in the industry to monitor large and costly battery banks, is now available for the first time at a more affordable price so that any battery bank can be monitored.
A battery bank consists of a string of series connected cells. The midpoint tension is the tension after half of the strand. Ideally, the midpoint voltage is exactly half the total voltage. In practice, however, there are deviations. These are dependent on numerous factors, such as from a different state of charge with new batteries or cells, different temperatures, internal leakage currents, capacities and many more. Large or increasing deviations in the midpoint voltage indicate improper battery care or a faulty battery or cell. Corrective action due to a midpoint voltage alarm can prevent serious damage to an expensive battery. Please also see the manual for more information.
